Using Pinterest for Inspiration & Moodboarding

A snapshot of one of my pinterest boards

Whenever I begin a new client project, I always take half an hour to create a pinterest board that is filled with inspiration for what I’m about to dive into. This helps me stay organized and focused, and also sparks inspiration if I get stuck while designing.

If you're new to marketing your business online, creating pinterest boards can be a great way to gather ideas and help you figure out your brand's visual identity. If you’re about to get started using pinterest for your business, I recommend creating these boards:

  1. Color Palette: Pin images with colors that you want to incorporate into your branding. You can always look outside your field for inspiration! Some examples could be interior design, fine art, fashion, etc.

  2. Typography: Selecting the correct fonts for your business can make a world of difference in how your branding feels. Pin examples of typography that you like, and keep an eye on font combinations that work well together.

  3. Instagram Feed: You can use Pinterest as a way to get inspired for how you want to curate your instagram feed. There are plenty of ideas for how to approach your instagram feed, certain posting patterns you can incorporate, and more.

  4. Photography Style: If you're planning on getting professional photos for your business, create a board that showcases the feel and aesthetic that you want to achieve. You can share this board with your photographer to ensure you get the style you’re looking for.

  5. Website: Pinterest is filled with great website design inspiration. Pin images that represent the look and feel that you want to achieve to help you stay on track when designing your site.

After spending some time on these pinterest boards you'll be one step closer to having a clear visual representation of your brand and you’ll be better equipped to create a cohesive and beautiful online presence.

I made these boards to share with both clients and friends, and to also keep track of my own personal favorite sources of inspiration. If you're new to pinterest, these boards are a great starting point to get familiar with creating folders and pinning your favorite items.
